Audio Analyzer Rental

Tektronix AM700 audio analyzer.
We offer rental and sales of audio analyzers and accessories, such as the Tektronix AM700 and Agilent 8903B, audio amplifiers such as the Keysight 33502A, and the Keysight 3458A 8.5-digit multimeter.

An audio analyzer serves as an analog and digital audio generator and as an audio and spectrum analyzer that breaks the signal down into its different frequencies. It monitors audio signals to make signal timing and amplitude measurements, and it also performs digital interface tests of the electrical characteristics and data of digital audio interfaces.

The AM700 is an easy-to-use, high-performance audio analyzer. It combines the ability to make conventional electronic audio measurements with more advanced measurements designed for emerging audio technologies.

The AM700 accepts balanced and unbalanced analog signals, as well as AES/EBU, S/PDIF and optical digital signals. Once acquired, powerful signal processing software performs the filtering, analysis and calculation of the test results. Measurement applications include FFT (with multitone mode), graph plotting, monitor, and digital interface tools.

An advanced set of measurements allows users to examine or measure important digital audio interface parameters, including eye diagram analysis, timing measurements, data format analysis and jitter measurements. The AM700’s reference capability allows the instrument to generate or measure digital audio signals while synchronized to a house digital reference.

The AM700 can generate test signals in both the analog and digital domains. The internal analog and digital audio generators operate in “true stereo” mode, providing independent signal generation capability for each channel of each generator. Full support is provided for all conventional test signal needs.

Electrical noise is any electrical signal that adds to an existing signal, the useful signal (music) that is meant to be amplified.
The noise level determines the lower limit of a signal; below it the signal is not valid. You hear it, as noise in the form of hisses or hums, and it masks the useful signal. In audio it may be acceptable to have a noise floor, since after all we can distinguish those signals, but it is extremely annoying, and since the goal is maximum fidelity to the original sound, it has to be eliminated.

In the case of measuring instruments, data transmission, etc., noise is far less harmless. A noise level that is too high gives inaccurate measurements or creates transmission errors.

Electrical noise is very different from ambient noise. The best-known examples in audio equipment are the background hiss of tapes and vinyl records, and the 50 Hz hum (interference), known as hum.
