Humidity Cycling and Environmental Stress Testing

Humidity cycling and environmental stress testing for electronic components, PCBs and sensors per IEC 60068-2-38 and J-STD-033. Lab in Mexico.

Humidity Cycling and Environmental Stress Testing

We offer controlled ambient humidity cycling services to evaluate the stability, robustness and performance of electronic components, dielectric materials, coatings, cables, connectors, sensors and printed circuit boards. We use programmed profiles that raise or lower humidity in defined stages, simulating real operating conditions or accelerated stress.

Our infrastructure, based on the ETS Model 514 automatic controller, the ETS 5472-NP ultrasonic humidifier and the Sun Electronics EC01 environmental chamber, makes it possible to create humidity cycles from low to high concentration with excellent repeatability. This makes it easy to reproduce conditions of condensation, ionic migration, moisture absorption or dielectric degradation.

During or after the humidity cycles, real-time electrical measurements can be made using vector network analyzers, oscilloscopes, real-time spectrum analyzers, noise figure analyzers, impedance meters, resistivity test equipment and dielectric characterization systems for liquid and solid materials. This allows the impact of humidity to be directly correlated with the sample’s electrical and electromagnetic response.

Services are offered under reference standards such as IEC 60068-2-38 (composite temperature/humidity cyclic test), IEC 60068-2-67 (cyclic damp heat), the MIL-STD-202 Humidity Test, J-STD-033 for moisture control in moisture-sensitive devices (MSL), as well as IPC methods for materials and PCBs. All tests include continuous recording of environmental conditions, photographs of the setup and a detailed technical report.

In all of our environmental analyses and laboratory tests where temperature is a critical parameter, we guarantee metrological control through in-house verification of our thermal systems. Each test is backed by temperature validation using our dry-block calibrator, with an operating range of -30 °C to 150 °C, resolution of 0.01 °C, thermal stability of ±0.02 °C and display accuracy of ±0.1 °C. We also evaluate block uniformity (horizontal ≤ ±0.05 °C) and the controlled vertical gradient, which ensures that measurements remain within the established uncertainties. This approach allows us to confirm the stability, uniformity and accuracy of the test conditions, providing reliable, traceable and technically supported results. The expanded uncertainty of the system is determined as a function of the operating point, the sensor under test and the process conditions.
