We have immediate inventory of hot sticks and rescue hooks, along with arc flash suits. Equipment is available for rent from one day at competitive prices.
Worker safety becomes more important every day, especially in tasks that put physical integrity and health at risk. Hence the need for companies to supply the tools and essential equipment to guarantee high safety standards for their personnel.
A fundamental tool that protects the worker and must be calibrated.
Dielectric hot sticks are tools designed to ensure a safe distance and insulation when performing work with or without voltage, and tasks in which elements must be operated from a great distance or at height. They protect the worker against electric shock, burns, or any other accident.
These dielectric and durable poles are easy to maintain and allow multiple tools to be attached at the tip. Made as a tube of polyester resin reinforced with fiberglass, they came to replace the wooden poles we used a few years ago. At Creativeit Group we calibrate all types of hot sticks and other dielectric equipment.
Telescopic hot sticks
They are used to perform mechanical work at a distance on electrical equipment, such as opening and closing, electrical isolation, phasing, voltage verification, and, in general, light tasks.
They are called telescopic because one section slides inside the other and extends until it reaches the desired length.
Telescopic hot sticks are available from two to nine sections and reach up to 12 meters, because in some cases phasing or isolation needs to be done from below, without climbing the pole.
A locking button is used to extend and retract the hot sticks, and they are easy to transport, since when collapsed they measure approximately 1.5 m.
The tip section is the rigid part and, being the most important, it is fully insulated for maximum protection. It is filled with polyurethane foam to prevent moisture from entering, since all the other sections are hollow. They are used in vertical-position operations, at a slight angle, and with little weight.
All sections of these poles undergo the dielectric test performed on hot sticks under ASTM standards, which require that every 30 cm withstand 100 kV.
Single-section hot sticks
In these hot sticks one section is placed on top of the other. They have a base section, three or four intermediate sections, and a tip section.
All sections in these hot sticks are filled with polyurethane foam, and the fiberglass layer is thicker than in telescopic hot sticks.
They are rigid hot sticks and can be used for all types of switching operations. Because of their rigidity and high stability, they are ideal for temporary grounds, where telescopic hot sticks are not as advisable, since the weight could damage them or even break them.
Insulating hot sticks (shotgun type and retractable hook)
Used for all types of work, since the operation is performed with a trigger on the hot stick to tighten, loosen, or place the temporary ground.
It is also rigid and is used for isolation and phasing; it is excellent for placing tools using adapters.
Maintenance
Although maintenance is simple, you should keep a few basic recommendations in mind:
- Keep them in their sleeves or carrying tubes in a place where they are not exposed to sun or water.
- Protect them from impacts, scratches, and, in general, from poor storage.
- Inspect them before use and clean them to remove dust and moisture.
- Keep the insulation condition of the hot stick under control by using a hot stick tester.
- Perform the dielectric strength test at least every two years.
Controlling and preventing occupational hazards with protective equipment and more not only creates a positive and safe environment, but also protects your company from costly and regrettable workplace accidents.
Dielectric hot sticks are used to perform operations on high-voltage electrical installations. We have hot sticks for every application:
