Moisture Measurement Solutions: DewPro MMY245 Analyzer Service or Rental
Is your gas or compressed air system really free of the critical moisture that can cause failures, corrosion or losses in your process? The solution: accurate real-time dew point measurement with professional technology.
The DewPro MMY 245 combines industrial accuracy, true portability and operational versatility, making it perfect for contractors, industrial plants, laboratories and technical services that require high-quality moisture measurements without having to buy their own equipment.
It is a dew point and moisture analyzer for gases that measures the amount of moisture in gas streams accurately and quickly. It uses a planar aluminum oxide capacitive sensor housed in a desiccant chamber that keeps the sensor dry until use, speeding up the measurement response and ensuring reliable results every time.
Main uses of the DewPro MMY 245
| Industry | Application |
|---|---|
| Compressed Air | Spot verification of air dryer performance in pneumatic systems and production lines. |
| Electrical Sector | Moisture measurement in SF6 gas in high-voltage circuit breakers, crucial for their insulation. |
| Natural Gas and Petrochemicals | Moisture analysis in gas pipelines and processing plants, and purity of gases such as hydrogen. |
| Breathing Air | Quality control in systems that supply breathable air for personal protective equipment. |
| Industrial Gases | Purity verification in oxygen, nitrogen and other bottled or in-process gas lines. |
The sensor is stored in a chamber with desiccant when not in use. This keeps it extremely dry, allowing an ultra-fast response on the next measurement without long waiting periods.
Accuracy: ±2 °C accuracy in dew point measurement .
Units of Measure: User-configurable to display results in °C, °F, ppmv, g/m³, g/kg, lbs/MMSCF and %RH.
Measurement and Quality Standards
Beyond equipment safety, the MMY245 is the tool your customers need to audit and verify that the quality of their gases meets internal specifications or industry standards.
Compressed Air Quality Control (ISO 8573)
ISO 8573 is the international standard that defines compressed air quality and sets the maximum permissible limits of contaminants in pneumatic and industrial systems.
Although the MMY245 does not certify to the standard by itself, it is the ideal instrument for verifying the dew point against the requirements of the international ISO 8573 standard for compressed air quality. It helps classify air into quality classes based on its moisture content.
SF6 Gas Purity (IEC 60480 / CIGRE)
IEC 60480 is an international standard issued by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) that establishes the criteria for handling, reuse and quality control of SF6 (sulfur hexafluoride) gas used in high-voltage electrical equipment.
In the electrical sector, the SF6 gas used in high-voltage circuit breakers must have a very low moisture content to maintain its insulating properties. Standards such as IEC 60480 (equipment in service) or CIGRE guidelines set the maximum permitted moisture limits.
The equipment is built to withstand inclement weather and harsh industrial environments, ensuring operation outdoors or in production plants.
The MMY245’s rugged plastic enclosure meets the NEMA-4X / IP66 rating. This means it is:
-
Protected against the ingress of dust and particles.
-
Resistant to water from hoses, heavy storms or intense rain.
-
Corrosion resistant.
Benefits of the service or rental
Reduced investment: you don’t need to buy costly equipment if the measurement need is occasional or project-based.
Flexibility: rent by the day or week depending on the duration of the job.
No maintenance or calibration of your own: the service usually includes verification and adjustment before delivery.
Access to advanced technology without buying: ideal for small companies, consultants and field technicians.
FRFLM863N Accessory
You could also include an air preparation unit with a 3-stage system consisting of a filter, regulator, coalescer and desiccant dryer. It improves compressed air quality (removing water, oil and particles, and regulating pressure), which can help make MMY-245 measurements more stable and accurate when sampling compressed air.
What are the benefits of using this system before measuring?
Higher air quality: Less water, oil or particles, which stabilizes the dew point/moisture measurement.
More constant pressure: The regulator maintains stable pressure, which improves measurement repeatability.
Instrument protection: Less contamination that could damage the sensors or affect their service life.
